Paul Troemner has been involved in storage tank engineering since June 1984. He has been involved in all phases of tank inspection, report and specifications writing, contract administration, and tank design. He specializes in drawing review, submittal review, specification writing, report writing, structural analyses, forensic evaluations, field evaluations, radiography review, preparation of cost estimates, computer drawing, computer programming, preparation of tank volume charts, and database creation. At the beginning of his career, Paul spent nearly nine years with Pitt-Des Moines, Inc., a large, nationwide fabricator of steel tanks. At PDM he was responsible for the design of ground and elevated storage tanks in accordance with American Petroleum Institute standards and American Water Works Associations Standard for Welded Steel Tanks. Paul participated in the design of approximately 400 tanks in 42 states in the United States, plus tanks in Canada, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo, and Saudi Arabia. He was the design engineer responsible for the "Light House Tank" in Cape Charles, Virginia which was named 1992 SPFA Tank of the Year. In addition to responsibilities involving tank design, Paul assisted in database alterations, program writing, computer graphics development, and software acquisition. After leaving PDM, Paul worked for 14 years at Tank Industry Consultants (TIC). At TIC, Paul participated in soil boring observation, foundation inspections, tank inspections, repair and repainting observation, structural evaluations, forensic evaluations, prebid evaluation report writing, specification writing, review of cellular and wifi antenna co-location drawings and installations, and a variety of other industry-related work. At TIC, Paul worked primarily on domestic projects, but was also involved with projects in Iceland and Italy. He has designed elevated tanks ranging in size from 50,000 gallons to 2,000,000 gallons, and ground storage tanks from 20,000 gallons to 16,000,000 gallons. In the days immediately following the devastating Northridge Earthquake, Paul performed a number of emergency seismic damage inspections in the Los Angeles vicinity, and has since been involved in seismic upgrade and retrofits for several California tanks. |
